Following a successful round of idea brainstorming, Team Who's Joe? has arrived at a final design for its yo-yo!
Piano Keys Yo-Yo
Before deciding on the Piano design, a subset of 4 designs were chosen and evaluated using a Pugh chart. By comparing each of the designs by their feasibility, artistic and engineering creativeness, as well as general likeability within the team, 2 designs arose as strong candidates.
The "air floaty & tye dye" design took a more artistic twist on the design and involved sealing different colors of paint within a clear thermoformed shell. Each yo-yo would be spun immediately after the paint was sealed and thus, creating a unique one-of-a-kind paint design for each yo-yo.
Alternatively, the piano design was a less colorful but more precise take on yo-yo art. An annular set of piano keys achieved with either overmolding or insert molding appealed to members looking to take on a more challenging injection-molding design and manufacturing experience.
